Choosing the Right Size for Leather Apple Watch Bands (2026)
At O2 Leather, we offer leather Apple Watch bands compatible with all current Apple Watch models. However, choosing the right band can sometimes be confusing, especially when it comes to watch size and wrist size. Customers regularly ask us which Apple Watch band size they need, so we’ve updated this guide to make it easier to understand both measurements and choose a leather band that fits your Apple Watch and feels comfortable on your wrist.
Different watch sizes
The sizes used in Apple watches show the screen height of the watch. For example, the screen size (height) of the Apple Ultra watch is 49mm. Apple has tried to make the watch screen easier to use by enlarging it since its first release. Since different models have different screen sizes over the years, this has caused confusion among customers. Below are general Apple models and watch sizes.
- Older Models (Series 1–3)
38mm and 42mm: These were the original two sizes available for the earlier Apple Watch series. - Newer Models (Series 4–9 and SE)
40mm and 44mm: Introduced with Series 4 and used until Series 6 and SE.
41mm and 45mm: Slightly larger sizes introduced with Series 7 and continued to Series 9. - Apple Watch Ultra
49mm: Exclusive to the Apple Watch Ultra. - Current Models (Series 10-11)
42mm and 46mm: Introduced with the Series 10 and continued with the Series 11.
Although Apple Watch models have used several different case sizes over the years, there are two main band size groups. Bands designed for the smaller case sizes are interchangeable with each other, while bands for the larger case sizes are also interchangeable. In short, the interchangeability between bands is as follows:
Bands for 38/40/41mm, and 42mm (series 10-11) are interchangeable.
Similarly, bands for 44/45/46mm, and 49mm are also compatible with each other.
To determine your watch size, simply check the back of your Apple Watch (as shown in the image below). This information is essential when shopping for a compatible band.

The second crucial aspect is your wrist size. Apple Watch bands are available in various different wrist sizes. At O2 Leather, we offer up to seven wrist sizes for leather Apple Watch bands:

Choosing the Right Band
Not all bands are available in every wrist size. Some bands may only offer one, two or three wrist size options. Always check the product page for specific sizing details. If you are shopping for a band for the Apple Watch Series 11, Ultra 3, or SE 3, be sure to check both the watch case size and your wrist measurement before ordering.
